Hello hello! My baby is over three months old and I've been back to work
for a couple of weeks. Now that I've settled into a routine, it's time
to think about writing again. And reading. What I've been reading lately
is mostly Goodnight Moon and Goodnight Gorilla, but I also get in odd
snatches of Little Dorrit (seriously, I'm at the very very end) and
Stephen King's Wolves of the Calla (continuing my tradition of reading a
Dark Tower book every summer). I never believed those women who said
they didn't have time to read once they had kids, but I can see how it's
just one of those things that go by the wayside if you don't make the
time. For now sleep (and, fine, So You Think You Can Dance and True
Blood and Huge) is my priority when I have a spare minute. But I'll be
making a change very soon, especially as you-know-who becomes more reliable in terms of bedtime.
Another thing: my cousin, an awesome dude and fellow author-in-the-making, gave me the
manuscript of his first novel and not only is that bumped up to
the front of the reading line, but it's also inspiration and incentive
to get back to doing my own thing already.
Ah, it's good to be back.
